Everton vs Man United live score, updates, highlights, lineups, result from Premier League at Goodison Park

GOODISON PARK — Manchester United take on Everton in an atmosphere anticipated to be charged with fervent Evertonians on Merseyside.

Sean Dyche's side were deducted 10 points last week after breaking the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules. As a result, the club dropped into the relegation zone from 14th place.

Protests are expected to take place before and during the match, with home supporters furious at what they perceive to be an unjust sanction. On the pitch, Dyche will be determined to see his side continue their good recent form and prove they can avoid relegation despite the points deduction.

For United, it's the first of three tough tests on the road. After today's match, they'll travel to Istanbul to face Galatasaray and then onto St James' Park next weekend to meet Newcastle United. They must then host Chelsea in the first week of December.

HT: That's all for the first half. United will be delighted to get to the break still leading as the hosts looked close to drawing level.  

41st minute: Everton cut open United beautifully and the ball makes its way to Gueye in a wonderful position but he can't find the composure needed and sends an effort way over the bar. 

40th minute: Mainoo looks like a player with a century of appearances to his name yet it's his first Premier League start. He was born in 2005...

32nd minute: Onana now with a huge double save to keep his side ahead! He first denies Calvert-Lewin and then McNeil. Mainoo then clears off the line for United and Goodison smells blood. 

31st minute: Everton's best chance of the match comes from a corner as Calvert-Lewin's header is straight at Onana, he should have done better. 

24th minute: Earning a free-kick in a prime crossing position on the right flank, Everton benefits from McTominay's reckless challenge on Gueye, who was tackled from behind. Although the home fans call for a booking for the Scotsman, the referee doesn't oblige.

13th minute: There are quite a few fireworks blasting in the background of Goodison. Can't quite figure out why?

10th minute: Calvert-Lewin has a chance to draw level but he can't quite steer the ball into the far corner after doing well to cut onto his left foot. 

8th minute: Did Garnacho learn that from a fellow Toffee? His strike certainly had shades of Wayne Rooney vs Manchester City all those years ago. United fans are singing their former striker's name.

3rd minute: OH MY WORD! Garnacho silences Goodison with an insane overhead kick! That is out of this world.

1st minute: We are underway at Goodison Park! United kick us off. 

10 minutes until kickoff: A warm round of applause for the late Terry Venables as we rapidly approach kickoff inside a hostile Goodison. 

15 minutes until kickoff: The Everton players have headed down the tunnel to finalise their preparations and they did so to a loud show of support from the Gwladys Street End. 

30 minutes until kickoff: The players are on the pitch, going through their warm-up routines. A few members of the United squad are sporting hats and gloves, while, in classic Sean Dyche style, not a single Toffee is seen with a hat or snood. Telling? It may be.  

1 hour until kickoff: We have the team news! Luke Shaw comes straight into the starting squad, as does 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo. Rasmus Hojlund didn't pass the fitness test and Anthony Martial starts in his place. For Everton,

United fans will be delighted to see the likes of Shaw and Mainoo included. But will they be in the starting XI? We'll find out soon.

Dyche is eager for his team to make a statement on the field, undeterred by the noise surrounding the club. The Toffees are enjoying a four-game unbeaten streak, including significant away victories against West Ham and Crystal Palace.

Vitaliy Mykolenko has scored in consecutive matches from the left-back position. Former Manchester United midfielder James Garner, having earned Dyche's confidence, starts in the midfield.

Like Everton, United have picked up important wins in the league having won four of their past five games, despite some unconvincing performances. Luke Shaw makes his first start since August. With Jonny Evans still injured, Victor Lindelof is chosen ahead of Raphael Varane.

Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez remain out with long-term injuries and Rasmus Hojlund couldn't pass a late fitness test. Christian Eriksen is out with a knee injury.
