Here's the latest NFL betting odds for Jaguars vs. Texans:

When these teams met in Week 3, a then-winless Texans team defeated the defending division champion Jaguars 37-17 as a 7.5-point road underdog. That's the most lopsided win this season for a team that was that big of an underdog.

Afterward, Jacksonville went on a five-game winning streak before getting ambushed by visiting San Francisco two weeks ago, 34-3. But the Jaguars rebounded convincingly with a 34-14 victory over Tennessee last Sunday.

Jaguars betting news

The Jaguars have had little success against the Texans since 2018, losing 10 of their past 11 meetings. Six of those losses came as a favorite.

But helping to fuel Jacksonville's division-leading status this season is its ability to force turnovers. The Jags have 20 takeaways, tops in the league. That puts them on pace to surpass last year's mark of 27, which had them tied for fourth in the league.

Those turnovers have contributed to Jacksonville's offense having 18 short fields to work with, twice as many as their foes.

QB Trevor Lawrence is having a similar season to last year, when he was lauded for leading the Jags to a late charge to the South crown. His completion percentage and yards per throw are up slightly. However, he isn't getting the same level of protection from his line, as he is just two sacks shy of his total in 17 games last year.

Lawrence's TD/INT ratio is a pedestrian 11/6. That's quite a drop from last season's 25 TD throws and eight interceptions.

Texans betting news

Under the guidance of rookie head coach DeMeco Ryans and rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, the Houston Texans have exceeded their season win total, making them the only team in the league to do so after 11 weeks. That number was only 5.5, coming off a 3-13-1 season.

The Texans are on a four-game home victory streak, a stark contrast to 2022's 0-7-1 home record. 2022 was the first time a team didn't win a game in its home building since the 0-16 Browns of 2017.

Through nine games this season, Stroud had 15 scoring throws and only two interceptions. But in last week's game, a 21-16 victory over visiting Arizona, he had three INTs -- all coming in enemy territory on second-down throws. Sheesh! No other QB this season has had three picks in a game working inside the 50.

Stroud doesn't have a shortage of quality receivers to target. Nico Collins and Tank Dell lead the way with a combined 10 touchdowns and 25 receptions of 20-plus yards. Then, there's WR Noah Brown, who has only 21 catches but 12 going for 20-plus.

Jaguars vs. Texans predictions

Houston has flourished with Devin Singletary taking over the rushing load from Dameon Pierce (ankle). He's averaged five yards on his 52 carries the past two weeks, including the team's startling 30-27 win at Cincinnati two weeks ago.

Jacksonville's Travis Etienne isn't having a bad year either, ranking fifth on the rushing chart with 670 yards, but he's averaging only 3.9 yards a carry.

What gives Jacksonville an edge here is the linebacker situation for Houston. In addition to To'oTo' currently dealing with a concussion issue, starting middle linebacker Denzel Perryman is serving the second game of his suspension for violating safety rules during games.

If both guys can't play, that benefits the Jaguars' running game and probably will cause some defensive mishaps.

Prediction: Jaguars and OVER
