For the 84th time in league history, the Detroit Lions will play host to a Thanksgiving Day game when they face NFC North rival Green Bay in the first of three Thursday games to open Week 12 of the NFL season.

When odds were first posted, the 8-2 Lions were listed as 7.5-point choices against the Packers (4-6). The over/under total was 45.5.

The current line is Lions , with a total of . The Packers can be had for on the moneyline.

The Lions are 7-3 against the spread, tied for the second-best mark in the league. No team has a better ATS record than Detroit's 15-5 dating back to Week 9 of 2022. That includes a 34-20 victory at Green Bay in Week 4 as a 2.5-point favorite.

The Packers, meanwhile, are 5-5 ATS this season.

On the over/under board, Lions games have gone over six times in 10 games. Green Bay has gone over only four times in 10 outings.

Here's the latest NFL betting odds for Packers vs. Lions:

The Lions are off to their best 10-game start since the 1962 season in which they, not coincidentally, had arguably their most famous Turkey Day victory. That's when they trounced unbeaten Green Bay 26-14 as a 6.5-point underdog and sacked Bart Starr 11 times. It was GB's only loss en route to its second consecutive NFL title.

But as the saying goes, on any given Turkey Day...

Six years later, in a mud bath at old Tiger Stadium, the Lions were 12-0 losers as a 12-point favorite over winless Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, Green Bay is off to a 4-6 start that matches its worst to open a season in the past 18 years.

Packers vs. Lions injury report

Here is the current injury report for the Packers vs. Lions:

Green Bay is particularly troubled by injuries to its top two running backs, Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. Both backs incurred ailments in last week's 23-20 win over the LA Chargers.

For Detroit, meanwhile, left guard Jonah Jackson is in danger of missing his second straight game with a wrist injury. He didn't participate in drills Monday.

Packers betting news

In their previous game vs. Detroit this year, the Packers were down for the count by halftime. They totaled only 23 yards of offense in the first two quarters, the fewest of anyone this season.

Green Bay also was outrushed in the game 211 yards to 27, and QB Jordan Love was sacked a season-high five times.

So, it will be tough for Green Bay to significantly boost its offense this time with Jones (doubtful, MCL sprain) and Dillon (questionable, groin) hurting. Those two combined for only 43 ground yards in 18 carries last week against the LA Chargers' 31st-ranked defense. Detroit's unit is ranked ninth.

Lions betting news

QB Jared Goff is coming off his first three-interception game the past four seasons. Two of those INTs came in enemy territory.

Despite his turnovers Sunday and the fact Chicago had the most lopsided edge in time of possession in a game this season (40:24 to 19:36), the Lions were able to rally from a 12-point deficit in the final three minutes to prevail, 31-26.

It was one of only 17 games this season that a QB with three INTs wound up on the winning side.

Packers vs. Lions predictions

Playing at home on Thanksgiving hasn't been magic for the Lions in recent years. Since 2004, they are 4-15 straight up, including six straight losses. But they are 3-1 ATS in their past four holiday outings.

For this game, the Lions appear to have a great edge in the running game.

The Packers had to make emergency additions to the RB stable with the possibility of their top guys being unavailable or slowed.

For Detroit, the Lions' potent combo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs will go against a Packers defense that has allowed 200-plus rushing yards in three games this year. That's more than anyone else.

And one last fact: Green Bay has lost four straight matchups against Detroit since 2021. The last time a longer streak occurred from 1949-54 when the Lions won 11 in a row.

Prediction: Lions and OVER
